Sometimes studios get blinded by the dollar signs at the box office given by oblivious theatre patrons and throw together another film by the same name to milk it some more. That is not the case for this one.
Sherlock Holmes 2 is an example of an excellent sequel.
If you liked the first Sherlock, you will love the second. If you didn’t enjoy the first one, you will not like this one either.
They used the same amazing theme music and style of cinematography as the first, but with a fresh plot line, some new characters and fantastic dialogue, especially between Sherlock and Watson.
The bromance-like partnership between the two is seen a little more in this one, and it’s worth seeing. The chemistry between Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law is palpable, and a joy to see. They really are a perfect pair.
The movie is filled with great fight scenes, ingenious use of weapons, with comedy around every corner. Director Guy Ritchie hit a home run.
Swedish-born Noomi Rapace (Lisbeth Salander in the original Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) does not stand out much, but she does look familiar…
The filming style where the fight scenes are slowed down, with Sherlock’s blow-by-blow of what is about to transpire still happens. It makes the movie so much more than just a scene where they shoot and run and fight, and the bad guys are all a-jumble and you don’t know what just happened. It’s a peek into the infamous detective’s mind and how he is able to do what he does, which is incredible.
Sherlock Holmes 2: A Game of Shadows is in theatres Dec. 16
